News from the Western Marches! Reports of treasures and glory have emerged from the northern frontier, where a company of six set out in pursuit of a treasure map found in the Old Sewers. Baby Face Bastian (hobbit Thief), Sedambrino (Magic-User), Simple Stuart the Spellslinger (Magic-User) with his henchdwarf Ulthan, Poke-Eye Pete (Thief), and Scrappy the Dog (now a Level 2 Good Boy) followed the clues of the map beyond the Old Sewers, to a flat butte, then a stone outcropping whose southern side was decorated with a statue of a man wielding a hammer and the symbol of Law. The statue pulled forward on ropes, an entrance was revealed; and a tomb-complex of a society of Lawful builders. Some of the dead in the burial vaults were unquiet, but they were put down by fire, axe and vicious bites, their treasure respectfully collected. Here was also a Lawful altar, whose acoutrements were later brought back to the temple of Drypass, a room of building models from a more civilised age, and several indications of an arrow-shaped Tower of Law, ringed by tall mountain peaks. It is believed this place might actually exist! A central door of stone was operated by a double puzzle: a room of stone cherubs bearing weapons guarding a lever, defeated by pulling via rope from the next room (and thus evading a missile trap); and another lever being held firmly by a stone knight with a magical aura, defeated by sawing through the wooden lever in the middle and pulling it without having to disturb the statue. The barrier thus cleared, the way was open to a room in the shape of a ziggurat; and here rested an old champion of Law showered with coins, precious sapphires, and bearing a warhammer +2. These treasures, and the holy relics were safely transported back in town, where a celebration is still ongoing: Sedambrino and Poke-Eye Pete are now both level 2!
